7/16 Discipleship with Men’s Alliance

 Today was the start of Flint Tribe at Forest Hill Park, official start time is 7:00pm on Wednesday evenings. For the workout Ultra led a very rugged workout which included jogging, squats, push ups, bench presses, sit-ups, water jug lifts, calf raises, dips, burpees, and box jumps repeating three times. I ended up modifying as it was a very good and tough workout. 


After that I led devotion on love, asking the questions; what is love? How do we define love? How does the New Testament answer those questions? How does the world answer those questions? How do we tactically day to day love our neighbor? How do we tactically day to day love people by speaking truth? First John 4:16-20 tells us that God is Love, there is no fear in love, we love because God first loved us ,and we cannot love God if we are not even loving our brothers and sisters. I think the perfect example of love is God sending Jesus to die for us (Romans 5:8, John 3:16).


Jesus commands us to love our neighbor (Mt 22:39). 1 Cor 13:4-8 gives us a good definition of love, being patient and kind and rejoicing in the truth. Using those last two versus we can say that loving our neighbor is speaking truth to them, not being tolerant of evil. Speaking truth can be hard, so we should be careful to do so with gentleness and respect as we are instructed in 1 Pet 3:15.


Men’s alliance is a tribe of men that meet weekly for a rugged workout and a real world devotion around a fire. To me, Men’s alliance sharpens me to become a better follower of Jesus. Their mission statement is, “Sharpening men to become the husbands, fathers, and leaders God designed us to be”. The reason I have stuck with Men’s Alliance and want to lead is to fulfill the great commandment, to go and make disciples, they are doing that through the membership process. 9/27 Pride Fest Evangelizing

Today I went to Virginia pride fest at the bon secour training facility with three guys from church. Before going to the event we met for coffee before hand to ask questions, read scripture, verify salvation, verify no footholds for the enemy, and pray. This was a good time asking questions and preparing for the event. Once we finished at the coffee shop we headed to the event. On the way to the event we split into pairs, two groups of two. It was a large venue, they were expecting 40,000+ people but with the rain but with the rain it was a fraction of that. At pride fest there were food trucks, concert stage, and vendor booths. We spent most of our time talking with the people at the booths. I will share four conversations, and what went well and what we can improve.  What we did well: I asked for help, I did not go alone I was deliberate with my clothing, I tried to be as welcoming as possible. 8/8 Jehovahs Witness Knocks on my Door

  Some Jehovah’s Witness came by my house today and gave me an invite to their upcoming convention, it is an invitation to JW events. I talked with them about Jesus’ deity. I was searching my mind for the deity versus, I am glad I have been working on memorizing them recently. Matthew 12:8, Mark 14:62, John 8:58, John 10:30. I’ll be honest I could’ve been more put together, the knock on the door mid work day threw me off. I did get the guys phone number and planning to reconnect next week.   Afterwards talking with others more scripture was brought up John 14:9, Daniel 7, John 1:1, Phil 2:4, Isiah 6 and 10. When I stepped outside to talk with them I did not have a bible on me, so when we looked at verses it was through the JW app on her phone. So I believe we were looking at the NWT, next time bring out my own bible. I usually use NIV or ESV, but KJV could be a common ground they would listen to (initial research I’ve done). Statement of Faith

  The Holy Bible, and only the Bible, is the authoritative Word of God. There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and co-eternal. Jesus Christ is God the Son, the second person of the Trinity. On earth, Jesus was 100% God and 100% man. He is the only man ever to have lived a sinless life. He was born of a virgin, performed miracles, died on the cross for mankind, and thus atoned for our sins through the shedding of His blood. He rose from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return again in power and glory. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ: His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts.
