7/16 Discipleship with Men’s Alliance

Today was the start of Flint Tribe at Forest Hill Park, official start time is 7:00pm on Wednesday evenings. For the workout Ultra led a very rugged workout which included jogging, squats, push ups, bench presses, sit-ups, water jug lifts, calf raises, dips, burpees, and box jumps repeating three times. I ended up modifying as it was a very good and tough workout.   After that I led devotion on love, asking the questions; what is love? How do we define love? How does the New Testament answer those questions? How does the world answer those questions? How do we tactically day to day love our neighbor? How do we tactically day to day love people by speaking truth? First John 4:16-20 tells us that God is Love, there is no fear in love, we love because God first loved us ,and we cannot love God if we are not even loving our brothers and sisters. I think the perfect example of love is God sending Jesus to die for us (Romans 5:8, John 3:16). Jesus commands us to love our neighbor ...

7/13 Giving

Sunday evening a man knocked on our door asking if he could cut our grass for money and if we had anything to drink or eat. He shared he just finished up doing yard work for a house a few doors up, and was trying to earn money to buy a hotel room for the night for him self and his kids. He shared he was in town because his son was shot. Because he was willing to do the work, I felt fine giving the money without him doing the work and we had a homeless bag put together I gave him (homeless bag has water, snacks, and hygiene products in a Jesus loves you bag). Before he left I prayed with him. After this me and my wife had a good discussion about what personal information we give to people and what we give away from the house. Going forward I will minimize personal information given out to people and not give out money from our home. We came to this agreement as the next night Juan knocked on our door at 10 pm asking for money for another night at a hotel room, this gave us a scare...

7/12 Chapel Serve Day

This Saturday I was able to help serve a local single mom by leading a couple guys in a serve day project through The Chapel Church. This project was to replace the front steps on her porch, they were old and starting to show signs of wear. When we took the deck boards off we realized the stringers underneath themselves were not enough so we added some beams there to increase their strength. Once that was done we cut and screwed in new deck boards. This took us a few hours to complete, in the July heat before the afternoon rain shower hit. We were cleaning up as it was about to rain. I am very grateful for the two guys that I served with, they had most of the tools and completed most of the work I cannot take the credit for completing this work.   That was the work we physically did, before that started everyone doing the serve day met at the Chapel for worship and a devotional. There was over 1,000 people doing serve day. The sanctuary was packed, standing room only. The worship w...

6/28 Evangelism Pride Parade

It went well. Me, my wife and son attended a pride pride parade on Saturday. Here is my debrief: What went well: I wore a Jesus won shirt, got a lot of looks and a couple “I like your shirt”s People had love is love shirts and signs, we asked them what love is love means and asked where is the line? Could you say pedophilia is love? We also asked people what their definition of love is We reconnected with a Buddhist we met at forest hill We also got information on future events. One in July and in September, and recurring events  What I could’ve done better When people defined love, does that come from truth? How do they know that? Points to Gods moral law we all have written on our hearts. Identify where the are on the continuum of Truth, God, Miracles, Ressurection of Jesus Maybe wear a different shirt that still speaks truth but is more inviting to conversation. Jesus is love? Do you know Jesus? My wife was wearing a plain shirt and people talked to her more, or stop when they s...
